Happy Merchant Monday! Today we’re featuring Where The Sidewalk Ends Toy Shop a brand new resident of South Pearl St! Located at 1887 S Pearl St. Where the Sidewalk Ends is a toy shop focused on providing a place to find a diverse collection of toys that inspire a child’s curiosity and creativity.
Owner Caity Barton is originally from Rome, New York. After working in the fashion industry in New York and moving to Colorado with her husband 12 years ago, she began working as a buyer and product line manager for national Boulder based companies. As a mother and someone with a passion for toys, she always strived to provide the best toys for her daughter. In 2020, she decided to open her very own online toy store to help other parents give the same to their children! It took off and has grown exponentially with the support of customers across Denver and the country.
The shop is dedicated to curating a selection of inclusive and unique children’s toys that you can’t find on Amazon or in other stores. The shelves are lined with products from all over Europe and Japan, representing people of all races and family types. In addition, 80% of the toy makers carried in store are women owned! Caity strives to provide toys for children of all backgrounds, so they can see themselves and their world in their toys. This helps children to learn how to express themselves emotionally and artistically, and to learn and grow through play. Many of the toys she carries are open ended- allowing children to explore and create their own experience.
You never know what you’ll find when you walk into the store. Caity is constantly on the search for new toys and toy makers from around the world! Whether you’re coming to South Pearl St. for dinner with the kids, stopping by a first Friday, or attending the weekly farmers market, make sure you stop in to see all of the new toys Caity has found! The shop is very play friendly, allowing your children to play and find exactly what they enjoy.
