Merchant Monday’s: RPO Framing & Gallery

Merchant Monday’s: RPO Framing & Gallery

Happy Merchant Monday! Today we’re featuring RPO Framing and Gallery, located at 1588 S Pearl St. RPO Framing & Gallery is a locally owned custom frame shop and gallery space.

While the building has been home to multiple frame shops for decades, Robert Platz took over the space in the fall of 2020. An artist himself, Robert has been painting and creating custom frames for over 30 years. His paintings are inspired by his love for Formula 1 racing; with racing memorabilia lining the shop! While he was running his own wholesale frame business and working in different galleries, he came to know the owners and had his eyes on the space ever since. Since taking over the building Robert has re-invented the shop with a more modern touch, and has created a space for local artists to display and sell their work.

From complex to simple designs, RPO offers a huge range of framing options in every price range. What’s most important to Robert is hearing the stories and history behind each artwork, print, or item, and creating a frame that compliments the piece perfectly. He even offers shadow boxes for customers who are wanting items such as memorabilia or artifacts to be displayed. The Platt Park community has been a huge support network, bringing his usual wait time from 2-3 weeks to over two months! His dedication to his craft, customers, and community has created a loyal customer base that choose RPO Framing & Gallery to decorate their homes.

From curating different local artists in his window to hosting poetry nights on the second Wednesday each month, Robert has created an incredible space for local artists to feel welcomed and seen. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements this summer, as he will soon be having figure drawing and tie dying classes taught by local artists!
